Volta Music Awards will for the next decade remain the most prestigious event in the region, thanks to Eventic Gh for changing the narrative. This year’s edition also came successful as there was plenty activities to dazzle the night away. The climax of the night was when the coveted category winner was declared. All categories in the contest are important but we could consider a select few as more important.
One of the very few to be considered as more important is REGGAE/DANCEHALL ARTISTES OF THE YEAR category. This is because of the growing interest and impact the genre comes along with. Reggae & Dancehall in Ghana, a big deal. The only genre in Ghana that has the most controversial followings.
Down here in the Volta region, the story is the same. The chase for the kingship.
It was established that any Dancehall artiste who wins that category is indeed the king and Kush Elikem “Dancehall Gladiator” for the second time has won the category. He was in a stiff competition with his friend Enamily at the first edition and last Saturday, he was again crowned the winner “King”. In his acceptance speech, he glorified God Almighty, Dottiyard Family, fans and supporters for bringing him this far. A dancehall king can never go without the kings language therefore a line or two freestyle was delivered.
Kush Elikem is just not an artistes but a producer, graphic designer, video director and an IT expert.
Kush Elikem, the Dancehall Gladiator, for the next one year period sits majestically on the throne to control the affairs of Dancehall in the region.
