Close to one thousand widows were given a special treat at a charity party organized for them at Parks and Garden in Ho, the capital city of the Volta Region of Ghana, Saturday 28th September 2019.

The party which was full of fun and entertainment, was organized by Tosh TV in collaboration with Prophetic Channel TV of the Enlightened Christians Gathering Church (ECG) based in South Africa. In his welcome address, the CEO of Tosh TV Mr. Anthony Dagbey popularly known as Tony D (Son of Major 1) disclosed that having drawn inspiration from his spiritual father Prophet Shepherd Bushiri founder and head of the ECG, he had vowed that when his dream of establishing a TV channel was realized, the first thing he would do prior to its inaugural ceremony was to organize a party for widows. He observed that instead of having the sympathy and support of the society, widows are mostly marginalized and suppressed by the very people who are supposed to support them.

Tony D promised that Tosh TV in collaboration with Prophetic Channel, would continue to organize programmes in support of the widows. He warned family members who suppress widows of their deceased siblings that Tosh TV would soon support such widows in taking legal actions against them.

The widows were treated to good food and entertainment, with music provided by traditional drumming groups, choral music, and gospel music, with a local gospel musician Mama Grace who is also a widow, as well as Stella Ganyo Edem and Esenam Deku performing. The other performing groups include Kekeli Borborbor Group, Klefe Atsatime Kaleawo Group, Nobody Drumming Group and Christ the King Choir.

The gathering was also treated to traditional story telling sessions, traditional puzzles as well as mind boggling traditional riddles. As a way of showing support, bags of rice were distributed to the widows.

The next such programme is scheduled for Boxing Day, the 26th day of December 2019.
