Ministry of Tourism names Sarkodie as “Year Of Return” ambassador


Ghanaian Rapper, Michael Owusu Addo better known as Sarkodie has been named the brand ambassador for the ‘Year of Return’.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Barbara Oteng Gyasi gave the honour on the rapper at the Creative Arts Industry Forum at the National.

The artiste also received a citation for his immense contribution for the creative art industry.

Sarkodie in return promised to support Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

This honorary comes after Sarkodie in his acceptance speech at the BET Hip Hop Awards, urged African-Americans to come home as Ghana marks the Year of Return this year.

2019 marks exactly 400 years since the first black slaves landed in Jamestown Virginia in the U.S.

The year of return initiative was launched to encourage Africans in the diaspora to return home.

So far many renowned people leaving in the diaspora have visited the motherland.
