After many years of calls for the formation of the authority, David Dontoh has been appointed as Chairman for the National Film Authority.
The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a memo cited by asiwomewrites.com names a 14 member governing body for the National Film Authority.
The 14 member governing body which will be led by veteran actor David Dontoh as Chairman includes includes Juliet Asante (Executive Secretary), Madam Yaa Attafua (Representative from the Copyright Office), Madam Josephine Ohene-Osei (Min. of Tourism, Arts and Culture), Mrs. Dora Darkwa- Mensah (Min. of Communications), Dr. Samuel Anyetei Nai (Min. of National Film and Television Institute) and Mr. Samuel Fiscian (Ghana Actors’ Guild).

The rest are Zakaria Abdulai (Film Producers’ Association of Ghana), Koffi Nartey (Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts), Akorfa Ejeani (Women in Film and Television), Kofi Ohemeng Owusu (Collective Management Organisation of Audio Visual Rights Owners), Rukiyaty Ankrah (Film Distributors and Marketers), Samuel Gyandoh (Film Crew Association of Ghana)and Ernest Boateng (Television Stations Nominee).
This National Film Authority, with the aid of the film act, will serve as a regulatory body as far as Film making is concerned and provide the legal framework for the production, regulation, nurturing and development of the Ghanaian film industry, and for the distribution, exhibition and marketing of films and related matters.
