One of the biggest highlights of the Volta Music Award 2020 was the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Raizo Lino On the Night .
The Lifetime Achievement Award is a special Award that is presented by the scheme’s Academy to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording.
Raizo Lino’s award was spot on as he was the first to ever establish a professional recording studio in the Volta Region. According to Raizo Lino, he came back from Germany in the year 1993 with his Sasamaso band, he later joined Legendary Togolese musician Agboti Yao to work. He came to the Volta Region and settled in Ho even though he’s a native of Aflao.
Raizo Lino further revealed that he combed through the region but realized there wasn’t a single recording studio to record artistes.
In 1997 when the first regional radio was established, not much airtime was given to Ewe music just because there were not enough to be played. Raizo Lino after noticing this took that bold decision to set up one.
Later in 1998, he started running a studio in his small business center. He later moved the studio to his living room before getting a space to operate as a full professional studio.
Raizo Lino who is also an artiste has five (5) studio albums to his credit. He recorded most of the earliest artistes in the region , the likes of Apollo Mandy, Israel Nanevi Maweta, Tony D, Efo Senyo, Joseph Akpalu etc
According to Raizo Lino most of the Church and Borborbor songs that are in the system were produced by him in his recording studio.
Raizo Lino thanked Eventic Gh, organizers of the Volta Music Awards for the recognition and has stated that he’s still in business and anyone who would want to work with him is welcomed.
He was Presented with a citation for his immense contribution to music in the Region.
