One of the biggest conversations sweeping the entire nation is the music clash between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale. Undoubtedly the biggest musical event to hit Ghana this year.

A show put together by one of Ghana’s baby radio stations in the national capital, Assase Radio 99.5 FM is to help drum home the message about COVID-19.

In a radio interview with award winning publicists Elorm Beenie, an advocate of Reggae/Dancehall genre on Global FM on Thursday August 6, 2020, he stated clearly that the event came at the right time to revive the genre in the country.

“For a long time even though Reggae/Dancehall has been visible, people play Reggae/Dancehall music in Ghana but Afrobeats seems to have taken the frontline now and its evident, everybody can see that but to have an initiative like this and take two of our major artistes to headline it, I think revives the reggae/Dancehall thing in Ghana”

Explaining the main reason for the event dubbed Assase Sound Clash; #Clash2CrushCOVID, Elorm Beenie said “The major idea for this clash is to kick out COVID”

For the many people who think Reggae/Dancehall is a foreign genre or culture that should not be prioritised by Ghanaian artistes, Elorm Beenie says

“Let’s not see Dancehall or Reggae as a foreign material. Its music by Africans outside Africa. So we’re one people, even Jamaicans now are doing more Afrobeats because they’re now getting exposed to our types of ensembles and sounds from West Africa. So let’s not see Dancehall as a foreign material.”

Elorm Beenie has therefore urged Reggae/Dancehall lovers to keep supporting the genre and also called on Dancehall artistes to see this as an opportunity to repackage themselves. “They should brand themselves so they get to be appealing to the corporate community and their own fans as well”.

The date for the main event is yet to be announced even as the event has been launched a few days ago.
